Comet C/2017 K2 (PANSTARRS) on July 15 th, 2022, during its closest approach to Earth to a distance of 1.81 AU, coinciding with its expected celestial conjunction with the globular cluster M 10 located in the constellation Ophiuchus. A gaseous green coma surrounds the comet that also projects a long dust tail more than one degree long, and a very faint ionic tail that is directed just towards the cluster.
