NGC 6888 (known as the Crescent Nebula) is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. This expanding gas shell spans approximately 25 lightyears across space. Its distinctive shape results from the interaction between the violent stellar winds of the massive central star – known as WR 136 (a Wolf-Rayet star) – and the slower-moving gas ejected by the same star thousands of years ago.
