M 97 and M 108 are a very beautiful pair in the constellation Ursa Major: M97 is the Owl Nebula, a planetary nebula in the Milky Way, while M 108 is a spiral galaxy seen almost edge-on, much further away and not physically linked to M 97. They are close only for perspective effect, but the contrast between the two objects is one of the reasons why they are photographed together so often.
