Leserbilder Astronomie: Star trails
Star trails against all: If I am asked what is the genre of astronomical photography that engages most in post production today, I answer without a doubt: star trails. Those that in the analog era were recommended as the first photos to approach astrophotography, today to make them you need to solve several problems to get a good result. In fact, if thanks to digital, if on the one hand it is easier to take several frames calibrated initially in exposure and contrast and then join them later in post production on the other hand we will find in the sensor other wakes that are non-stellar: satellites, planes and starlinks. The traffic in the sky has increased exponentially in recent years and to clean up the image obtained from the sum of all the frames becomes a challenging task. I personally clean up all the individual frames one by one and merge them into groups of 50. This operation can take up to an hour, so 400 poses can take up to 8 hours in total. At the end all the groups of 50 poses are all joined and the final processing of the resulting image is done. Below you will find the image of all the dirty frames joined and the final one with the careful frame-by-frame removal of the trails of all the intruders.
